ABOUT US

Our vision is “To assist SFUWO Instructors and graduates develop and operate the premier source of benevolence for current, former and fallen combat divers, their teammates and their families. “  Check back here often to monitor the status of our projects to help realize our vision.

What we do: About Us

Our Mission

“The SFUWO Instructor Foundation’s mission is to provide a trifecta of services to the Special Forces Dive community through: Benevolence to our Brothers that have been wounded or injured and the families for those Combat Divers who made the ultimate sacrifice; Provide subject matter expertise, financing and project management for the proliferation of Portable and Stationary Hyperbaric Chambers to support Special Forces Combat Divers during their training and missions and Hyperbaric Oxygen Treatment facilities for veterans across the US; The third tine of this trifecta and perhaps our greatest source of passion is suicide awareness and prevention to make sure that no Special Forces Combat Divers or their teammates ever have to fight their demons alone.

Benevolence

The Special Forces Gold Star spouse faces monumental challenges with the loss of a husband or wife whether it be monetary or moral support. Investing in the children of a servicemember that paid the ultimate price for America is one way to honor that sacrifice. We will do this by developing a financial war chest to assist wounded or injured Special Forces Divers and the Gold Star families our fallen Brothers have left behind.

  1. Objective 1: Develop the capability to identify and provide immediate financial assistance to wounded or injured Special Forces Divers and Gold Star Families of our Fallen Brothers

  2. Objective 2: Develop and manage a process by which to finance, prioritize and distribute college and trade school scholarships for Gold Star families;

Hyperbaric Treatment

The SFUWO Instructors are some of the most renowned and experienced Dive Medical Technicians (DMT) and Dive Medical Officers (DMO) regarding Hyperbaric Studies and application in the world today. This expertise will enable us to be the premier source for acquiring and providing access to hyperbaric treatment resources in the United States.  This includes recompression chambers to support training evolutions and operations as well as Hyperbaric Oxygen Treatment assets.

  1. Objective 1: Provide a Hyperbaric Treatment capability to Key West and the Florida Keys.

  2. Objective 2:  Provide a Hyperbaric Treatment capability to installations housing all active duty Special Forces Groups.

  3. Objective 3: Provide an O2 Hyperbaric treatment capability to VA facilities, based on need.

Emotional Support

The thing that makes us the toughest sons a bitches in Special Forces is also what kills those with deep, life threatening emotional wounds. Our fear of failure and bringing shame to ourselves and our Brothers finds those with fatal psychological wounds literally laying wounded in the kill zone while we offer to “Grab a Beer” with anyone who needs to talk. We must break the cycle and prepare ourselves to rush into the kill zone and provide desperately needed life saving psychological first aid until professional care is available.

  1. Objective 1: Provide online training on Psychological First Aid.

  2. Objective 2:  Develop a Knowledge Base for methods and resources in dealing with PTSD.
